Public sector performance: a global perspective

The public sectors of different countries are shaped by many factors, but they share common challenges. Those challenges make public sector performance management more complex than it is in the private sector, where a generally simpler environment and more efficient evolution of best practice allow companies to benefit from tools and insights that are the envy of public sector managers.

This report will be of interest to readers from all sectors due to the role of the public sector with respect to economic growth and the increasing interdependencies of public and private sectors. It also includes a specific solution to one of the biggest public sector challenges – the alignment of policy to outcomes.

I do believe that there is a systematic, pervasive, though possibly not deliberate, ignorance of the critical value and importance of good accounting to governments.
