Fact or fiction? The independent business partner: Asia

This discussion paper outlines how finance professionals need to move from being the co-pilot into the driver's seat across the Asia region, by employing additional skills and tools. Organisations need to consider not only how they identify talent, from a competitive pool, but how they build capacity, with support as necessary from educators, professional bodies and government agencies.

Based on new findings based on a regional roundtable in Singapore and ongoing research on finance transformation, the report outlines both the growth and operational context of finance business partnering across Asia, with a particular regard to independence and objectivity.

I believe there is a benefit for moving towards true partnering. It is something I do see increasingly happening, however it is not a part of the standard DNA of a finance department. This is currently something outside finance’s comfort zone.
