Sustainable Development Goals

The UN Sustainable Development Goals (the SDGs) are a call to action for governments, NGOs and businesses worldwide to tackle the biggest challenges facing our planet.

In September 2015, world leaders committed to 17 goals designed to tackle the biggest problems facing our world. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a call to action to reduce inequalities, promote peace and justice, and protect our environment. With a 2030 deadline for achieving the SDGs, we need to take action now.

Businesses have a key role in helping deliver the SDGs, and management accountants should be at the forefront of this, providing financial and non-financial reporting, proposing the business case for prioritising the SDGs, and ensuring organisational strategy is aligned with the Goals.
