2 November 2022, Bristol – AICPA & CIMA, in association with Robert Half, are hosting ‘Going Beyond Finance: Our chance to get it right’ in Bristol on 10th November. The event will explore how Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) activities affect corporate strategies and business models, and the role finance teams are playing.

There is no doubt that ESG is vital to modern businesses. Organisations that have robust ESG strategies are highly valued and enjoy better financial performance. In addition, upholding sustainable business practices is a fundamental expectation of Generation Z, both as consumers and potential employees.

Going Beyond Finance will allow accounting and finance professionals the opportunity to connect with their peers, and learn about how ESG is changing the world they operate in.

The evening will include a panel discussion where attendees will hear from:

  • Melanie Kanaka, FCMA, CGMA, CIMA President

  • Andrew Harding FCMA, CGMA, Chief Executive, Management Accounting, AICPA & CIMA

  • Dr Jeremy Osborn, FCMA, CGMA, CPA (Aust.), Global Head of ESG, AICPA & CIMA

  • Nick Sturge MBE, Chartered Director and Strategic Adviser

  • Tim Harford OBE, Financial Times’ Undercover Economist & BBC Radio 4 More or Less Presenter. Author of ‘How to make the world add up: Ten rules for thinking differently about numbers’

After a break for refreshments and networking, there will be a keynote speech from Tim Harford OBE.

Andrew Harding, FCMA, CGMA, Chief Executive — Management Accounting at the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, representing AICPA & CIMA, said:

“While COP27 is taking place in Egypt, the Going Beyond Finance event is timely reminder that the commercial world is having to deal with enormous environmental challenges. It will provide a platform to discuss the ESG risks and opportunities that accounting and finance professionals manage on behalf of businesses and society. That role is continuing to evolve and expand, and they will play a critical part in securing a better future for everyone.”
