AICPA & CIMA appoint new Head for Southern Africa to facilitate growth in local markets

6 September 2022, Johannesburg – The Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (the Association), the unified voice of the American Institute of CPAs and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (AICPA & CIMA), has announced today the appointment of Dr Donald Moeletsi to the role of Director – Southern Africa.

Dr Moeletsi joined the Association on 5 September, and in this role, he will oversee the Association’s Southern Africa strategy and drive the organisation’s growth in the region, with a specific focus on South Africa, Namibia, and Lesotho. Dr Moeletsi will work with his team to build sustainable relationships with key stakeholders including members in the market, enhance the reputation of the accounting profession, and increase the recognition of the Chartered Global Management Accounting (CGMA) designation locally.

Tariro Mutizwa, ACMA, CGMA, Regional Vice President for Africa at the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, representing AICPA & CIMA, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Dr Moeletsi to the Association, he is joining us at the ideal time as we continue to grow both locally and globally. He brings a decade of business development and client services experience to the Association. This includes a unique set of skills and perspectives to lead the Southern Africa team, building on what we have already accomplished.”

Dr Moeletsi joins the Association from Moonstone Business School of Excellence, where he served as the Head of Sales. His responsibilities included sourcing and implementing customer relationship management processes and admission systems to expand sales growth, and building functional and scalable sales teams consisting of managers, supervisors, consultants, and administrators. He has also gained considerable experience in the insurance and banking sectors.

Speaking on his new role, Dr Donald Moeletsi said: “This is an exciting new chapter for me. The role of finance and accounting professionals is changing at a rapid pace, it is our role to make sure our members and candidates have the knowledge, competencies, and skills to meet the demands of our rapidly changing and digitalised business world.”
