22 December 2021, Shanghai – The China International Talent Exchange Foundation (CITEF) and The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) today signed a new cooperation agreement to launch the Digital Management Accounting (DMA) certificate in China, and promote the training and support the development of digitally competent finance professionals.

Mr Wan Jinfa, Head of Department, Deputy Director at CITEF and Andrew Harding, Chief Executive – Management Accounting at CIMA, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations. It is one of the practical implementations of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in International Professional Exchange and Vocational Education and Training signed in 2019 by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China and the UK’s Department for International Trade. The introduction of the DMA certificate will further cooperation between the two countries in the professional education sector under the MoU.

Based on the CGMA Competency Framework, the new certificate will enable finance professionals to enhance their core digital skills and management competencies, and greatly reduce the time for students to obtain the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation, the most widely held management accounting designation in the world. In turn, this will help create a pool of interdisciplinary and digitally savvy finance talents in China who are best equipped to cope with the challenges of new technology, be fit to guide their businesses through digital transformation and support the development of their digital economy.
