Mind the Skills Gap 2018

As automation and digitisation disrupt the world of work at unprecedented speed, a new Association of International Certified Professional Accountants survey reveals that 8 million UK workers face an uncertain career if they do not change their mind-set towards gaining new skills and getting to grips with what employers need for a digital economy.

Against this backdrop, UK workers need to make a drastic and immediate change to their attitude towards learning. Without it, the UK economy could fall well behind its competitors as the global business world adapts to new technologies. Brexit adds further complication given the likely impact on the pool of skilled workers that will be available to UK businesses – all factors Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation holders need to take into account to support decision making and drive sustainable business success.

These findings coincide with the launch of the Association’s work into the future of finance and the launch of new resources to prepare current and future generations of management accountants for the digital economy.
