Reimagine finance: Business partnering in the digital age

Speaker: Peter Simons

Category: WEBINAR EVENT

Webinar for CIMA students and members in Europe

It is our pleasure to invite you to the webinar on business partnering in the digital age.

Through CIMA's syllabus research we’ve tried to establish how management accountants should support the business’ response to the recent developments in the business world and what skills they will need.

We found that businesses were concerned about various inter-related developments but mainly about e-commerce and further disruptive new technologies. Interviewees spoke about how their business is responding in terms of how it is optimizing or even transforming its business model.

And the recent COVID-19 pandemic will hasten the pace of change.

To support business, management accountants must be alert to the potential in these new technologies, how they can be applied in the business and how the data they generate can be used to inform performance management.

During this webinar you’ll find out:

  • what’s happening in the business world,
  • how businesses are responding,
  • business model frameworks,
  • impact of new technologies on business models,
  • what this means for the role of finance,
  • the new skills finance professionals will need,
  • and how these can be developed.

Peter Simons is an associate director of research in the management accounting unit of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants.

This Association was formed in 2017 to serve members of both the AICPA, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and CIMA, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

The future of finance is the main focus of Peter’s research. This work contributes to the development of the CIMA/CGMA syllabus. Peter writes whitepaper reports, speaks at events etc. to raise awareness of the value of management accounting. He also works with colleagues across the Association’s value chain to support members.
