In July 2020, HMRC published its 10-year strategy Building a trusted, modern tax administration system, an ambitious project aiming to build a more efficient, trusted and modern tax system.
The call for evidence on the Tax Administration Framework Review is a key part of delivering the UK Government’s tax administration strategy. Published on 23 March 2021, the report is seeking evidence and feedback on tax laws, regulations, processes and guidance, which underpin HMRC’s tax administration framework. CIMA will be responding to the call for evidence and is directly involved in key stakeholder meetings and roundtables to discuss and help resolve issues with the UK’s tax system. Central to HMRC’s vision is a fully digital tax system that can support the taxpayers’ needs and fight tax avoidance to build greater trust in the system.
It's clear that there’s a real need for reform as taxpayers, agents and their clients find interacting with HMRC often challenging and time consuming.
CIMA will continue to work alongside HMRC to deliver this critical project.
