UK & Ireland CFO Programme

Enhance your professional standing

The UK & Ireland CFO Programme will help you stay at the cutting edge of your profession. It will complement your experience and put you on a fast track to gaining the globally-trusted and highly-valued CGMA designation.

CGMA is the most widely held management accounting designation in the world. It distinguishes more than 150,000 accounting and finance professionals who have advanced proficiency in finance, operations, strategy and management.

On this fast-track programme for C-suite executives, candidates will attend a CFO programme workshop and take the final Strategic Case Study exam (SCS) of the CIMA qualification.

The SCS exam will focus on the application of strategic management accounting techniques to analyse, recommend and support decisions areas that fall within the scope of CFOs and senior management.

The next step is your CIMA & CGMA membership. You will be awarded upon passing the Strategic Case Study exam and successful fellowship membership application and assessment.

As a CIMA fellow you will be part of an elite group of business professionals. Once your fellowship application has been approved, you can use the letters FCMA, CGMA after your name.

CFO Workshop

The CFO workshop will focus on preparation for the three-hour Strategic Case Study (SCS) exam. 

Strategic Case Study Exam

The Strategic Case Study exam will take the form of a virtual business role play. You will adopt the role of a Senior Finance Manager and be tested on the technical, finance and business skills decisions you make based on a case study scenario.

The CFO programme is open to:

CFOs, CEOs and senior management who have at least 10 years' experience in business and finance functions.

Terms & Conditions:

This programme is not available to existing CIMA students who have previously failed a CIMA exam, unless a further qualification was undertaken or relevant work experience gained after that exam was failed that qualifies the student for that exemption, in line with our Exemptions policy.

Eligibility and application process:

Candidates must submit a detailed CV to BDC@aicpa-cima.com which includes the following:

  • personal details
  • academic qualifications
  • detailed work experience
  • CIMA Contact ID, if applicable

Fee structure:

The programme is available for a one-off fee of £6,990.

The fee includes:

  • The CIMA registration fee
  • Exemption fees for 16 CIMA exams
  • Tuition on 4 workshop days and tutor support
  • Exam fees for the Strategic Case Study exam
  • The CIMA membership application fee

February 2023 sitting:
20th January, 6th February, 7th February, and 14th February

May 2023 sitting:
6th April, 26th April, 5th May, and 12th May

August 2023 sitting:
18th July, 2nd August, 3rd August, and 9th August

November 2023 sitting:
19th October, 1st November, 2nd November, and 9th November

Apply for CIMA Fellowship & CGMA membership upon passing the exam.
