Introduction
The Operational Case Study (OCS) exam is essentially a virtual business role play, reflecting real life business scenarios comprising a series of time bound tasks set for students to complete based on pre-seen material, constructed with one or more fictionalised organisations based on a real business or industry.
The focus of Operational level is on the short term and integration between different disciplines expected of a management accountant working in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous business environment. Your role as a candidate taking OCS will be a finance officer and students need to understand their role within the case study exam to produce a good answer, demonstrating knowledge and applying skills from across the syllabus.
During the examination, you will need to demonstrate: Technical skills, Business skills, People skills, Leadership skills and Digital skills which form the CGMA Competency Framework that is underpinned by Ethics, Integrity and Professionalism. The Case Study examination is used to test a variety of skills including research and analysis, how to present information, persuasion and communication skills.
