Partnership with Malaysian Institute of Accountants
CIMA and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) are proud to introduce the CIMA-MIA Strategic Programmes. These programmes provide a fast track route for members of MIA to obtain the CIMA professional qualification.
Upon completion of the CIMA exams and successful membership application, candidates will become members of CIMA and be awarded two global designations - Associate Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).

CPA Australia and CIMA, both full members of IFAC, share common and strong interests in the advancement of the accountancy profession.
Recognising that global portability is increasingly important for professional accountants around the world and to take advantage of opportunities for our members, CIMA and CPA Australia entered into a mutual recognition agreement to provide:
- Recognition of their respective members’ prior qualifications.
- Membership services to each other’s members in their ‘home’ locations.
As of 1 January 2017 the existing MRA is replaced by the new Member Pathway Agreement (MPA) and there will be additional study requirements.
- CPA to CIMA applicants will need to register as a student, complete the CIMA Strategic Case Study exam and pay fees associated with this.
- CIMA to CPA applicants will need to complete Better Practice in Governance and Accountability (online course).
CIMA has partnerships with established Malaysian universities, offering specialised programmes where students combine their undergraduate studies with CIMA. We also award CIMA exemptions for relevant degree programmes at these universities.
