Entry routes to CIMA

The CIMA professional qualification is for anyone with the drive and desire to succeed in business.

Choose your entry route

If you’re new to business or accounting studies, you will first need to work towards gaining the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting. This will then enable you to move on to the CIMA professional qualification. For those who have previously studied business/accounting you may be entitled to exemptions or there may be an alternative route to entry for you.

Undergraduates and graduates

Boost your undergraduate degree (and CV) with the CIMA qualification, recognised and valued by businesses around the world. Whatever your degree subject you can study CIMA now - relevant degrees will be entitled to exemptions, saving time and getting your career started even sooner!

Complement your prior studies with CIMA, the most relevant finance qualification for a career in business. By gaining the CGMA designation you'll be able to add value to your MBA or Masters in Accounting, top up your skillset and solidify your learning.

If you hold a qualification with another professional body on our CIMA accredited programmes’ database, you may be eligible for exemptions from some exams in the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting and the CIMA Professional Qualification.

Depending on your entry route and previous educational experience, you may be eligible for exemptions from certain exams under the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting or CIMA Professional Qualification.
