2018 MESANA Regional Board Members Announcement

We are pleased to inform you that Steve Swientozielskyj FCMA, CGMA is the new President of CIMA, effective from 1 June 2018. His Deputy is Amal Ratnayake FCMA CGMA while Nick Jackson  FCMA CGMA is the new Vice President.  Melanie J Kanaka FCMA CGMA will serve as a member in the Association Board.  Imran Khalil Naseer FCMA, CGMA, Melanie J Kanaka FCMA, CGMA, Phillie Karkaria FCMA, CGMA and Ravinda Edirisinghe FCMA, CGMA will serve as members in the CIMA Council.

The MESANA Regional Board has also been constituted, under the governance of the Association, with members serving the Board with effect from 1 June 2018. 

As stipulated under the Terms of Reference for Regional Boards, the constitution of the Board shall be 11 individuals, of which three members shall be elected. The elections for these three members have been concluded. The remaining individuals shall be five nominated members and two students. The nominations were made by the Nominations MA Sub-Committee and approved by CIMA Council. The Regional Vice President is appointed as the RVP to the Regional Board and as committee secretary. 

Mr Chandrin Fernando FCMA, CGMA serves as the Chairman of the MESANA Regional Board, with Mr  Vinesh Singh FCMA, CGMA as the Vice Chairman. 

The Regional Board will continue to provide perspective on the development of the Association’s strategic plan, the local marketplace and understanding emerging issues in the region - all towards enhancing the management accounting profession and ensuring our continued relevance to the needs of employers and the industry. 

We wish our governance members all the very best during their tenure.

Programme Directors

Prof. Purusottam Sen is a Professor in Finance and Control area of Indian institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta). He has a B.S. from Birla Institute of Technology & Sciences, Pilani (India), an MBA (specialization in Financial Management) and a PhD (Fellow of IIM Calcutta) from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (India). He is also a Chartered Management Accountant from The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants ® (CIMA), London – of which he is a member. His focus areas are Corporate Finance, Management Accounting, and Management Control Systems. He has more than 35 year’s professional experience in Industry, consulting and academics in India and abroad.

Prof. Asish K Bhattacharyya is the Director of IMT Ghaziabad. Before he was a Professor in some renowned Institute like Indian Institute of Corporate affairs, Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. He obtained his doctoral degree from the University of Allahabad. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and a Fellow of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India. He is an Associate member of The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants ® (CIMA, UK).He writes in the areas of accounting, management accounting, auditing and corporate governance.

Prof. Arpita Ghosh is an Associate Professor in Finance and Control area of Indian institute of Management Calcutta. Before joining IIM Calcutta, she served as faculty at IIM Ahmedabad. Her qualifications include Fellow of IIM Calcutta (Finance and Control), Masters in commerce from University of Calcutta (M.Com). Her research interest lies in the areas of Corporate Governance, Corporate Social Responsibility, Earnings Management, and Financial Reporting & Performance of Banks in India. She teaches courses like Corporate Financial Reporting, Cost Management, Financial Statement Analysis, and Empirical Accounting Research.

Transfer Pricing

Transfer Pricing is an important subject emerging from International Tax regime. It is a key consideration for Multinational Enterprises ("MNE") engaging in intra-group transactions. This online workshop is conducted by Rahul Chawla (CGMA, FCA, CPA, LLB) who has wide experience in Transfer Pricing. This will be a webex and suitable for CIMA professionals based in India and for others having keen interest in Indian tax regime.

IIMC - CIMA Workshop
