Brexit is unique and an event that will define the UK economy for the foreseeable future. The purpose of Dr Ian Jackson’s presentation will be to provide you with an impartial and informed account of how Brexit affects the trading arrangement of the European Union.

Ian will focus on assessing the likely economic effects close to the current leaving deadline of 31 October 2019.Ian Derrick, Bank of England Agent for Wales will give you highlights of the Bank of England’s latest forecast for the UK economy including a brief overview of global economic developments. He will also run through key latest UK economic data, providing forecasts for UK growth and inflation plus expectations for UK interest rates.
Ian Derrick joined the Bank in 2000, spending a year on secondment at the Office of National Statistics in 2015. Originally from Llanelli, South Wales, Ian graduated from Cardiff University in Economics in 1989, working for The Royal Bank of Scotland in corporate banking and project finance in the City in the 1990s.
Dr Ian Jackson is an applied industrial economist with research interests in the aerospace sector and the ceramics industry. He has taught economics and finance modules in Europe and China and for twelve years he coordinated a postgraduate degree on the economics of globalisation with academic partners across the world.
