Agile thinking in a changing business world

All organisations react and deal with problems that are changing constantly. This course explores how your business can improve its ability to shift thinking in a controlled but rapid manner. This allows your business to streamline its processes and respond swiftly to changes in its environment.

Who should attend? 
This course is aimed at anyone who want to consider their thinking rationale and shift towards new and agile methods. 

What you will gain
Following this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain agile principles and practices that foster agile thinking
  • Recognise the ‘status quo’ in personal and organisational behavioural thinking that constrains agility
  • Practice techniques to remove dysfunctional thinking habits and replace with an agile approach
  • Use agile thinking to encourage relevant and meaningful input into the design of strategy
  • Help others to think and work in more agile ways to achieve workplace goals

Programme outline
The course is delivered as follows:

  • One hour of pre-course work to introduce the course and online resources
  • 3 x two-hour live sessions, approximately one week apart
  • Six hours of self-study, between sessions

Session 1
Before learning how to develop agile thinking, it’s useful to take a broader view of agile and the principles that set it apart from a traditional approach. By the end of this live session, you should be able to:

  • Identify the values and principles that contribute to agility
  • Recognise that values are both situational and subjective
  • Explain the connection between organisational culture and agility
  • Distinguish between behavioural and thinking habits that constrain or foster agility

Session 2
Developing inner agility is essential in releasing your potential to succeed in an ever-changing and fast-paced business world. By the end of this live session, you should be able to:

  • Pinpoint individual ‘status quo’ thinking habits that hinder agility
  • Determine the personal mindset practices required to develop inner agility
  • Create space for clear judgement, agile thinking, and purposeful action
  • Experiment with techniques that replace old habits with new agile thinking

Session 3
Agility requires continuous discovery, team alignment and ongoing delivery. This means you must learn how to co-create an agile organisation, design and culture by weaving agile thinking into the fabric of daily activity. By the end of this live session, you should be able to:

  • Recognise signs of behavioural and thinking habits that constrain agility in your organisation
  • Promote ways that can help build new mind-sets in areas and across the organisation
  • Help others begin to think and work in more agile ways to achieve workplace goals
