Keep your teams motivated, connected and valued wherever they happen to be in the world. Help your business to promote great teamwork in a virtual environment using various models and techniques to enhance employee performance.

Who should attend?
This course is aimed at anyone who wishes to improve interactions and collaboration within teams in the organisation.

What you will gain
Following this course, you will be able to:

  • Work with teams to define and shape their desired values and behaviours
  • Define and evaluate the value that teams add to the wider business
  • Understand and articulate the drivers for and barriers against collaboration
  • Apply technological and behavioural tools to drive collaboration of teams
  • Diagnose and understand common issues within teams
  • Understand the role of support and healthy conflict in effective teams and utilise tools to promote mentally healthy team working

Programme outline
The course is delivered as follows:

  • One hour of pre-course work to introduce the course and online resources
  • 3 x two-hour live sessions, approximately one week apart
  • Six hours of self-study, between sessions

Session 1
The basis of an effective collaborative team working, and often the biggest barrier, is interpersonal relationships. This unit is designed to help teams gather insights into their own work styles, as well as demonstrate how they can better interact with each other and add value to your business. By the end of this live session, you should be able to:

  • Identify individual working style preferences and those of your team
  • Gain insights into how you and your team members can tailor approaches to optimise collaborative working
  • Interrogate the value a team adds to your business and how this can be increased

Session 2
Effective collaboration requires innovation to make the most of networks and available tools. This unit is designed for you to explore the drivers of collaboration, as well as what gets in the way, in order to inform team development plans. By the end of this live session, you should be able to:

  • Gain insights into good practice in using collaboration tools - both technology and practices
  • Understand and articulate the barriers that a team faces in using collaboration tools
  • Consult with a team to define desired practices to aid collaboration within and across teams
  • Conduct a stakeholder mapping exercise to understand the influencing potential of a team

Session 3
Healthy teams are successful teams. In an increasingly digitally driven world, evidence would suggest that supportive team environments that promote good mental health are also becoming more important. This unit is designed for employees to understand the dynamics that impact mentally healthy team working, while promoting this in a business context. By the end of this live session, you should be able to:

  • Appreciate the importance of team relationships in psychological wellness and performance
  • Conduct diagnostic activities to assess the health and functioning of a team
  • Understand the importance of healthy conflict within teams and how to nurture it
  • Co-design a plan to address issues and build supportive relationships within a team
