Psychological survival skills at work

Category: MASTER COURSE

Discover how to strengthen your resilience so that you can handle the stresses of work effectively and even experience growth and improved psychological wellbeing as a result.

Who should attend?
This course is for anyone who is interested in developing resilience at work, gaining strength through adversity and developing their psychological wellbeing.

What you will gain
This course is led by a psychologist specialising in resilience and vulnerability, who also has experience of working within other professions and industries at many levels. You will be introduced to the scientific data behind the study of resilience so you can be confident of its efficacy, and you’ll take part in exercises and discussions enabling you to practice the essential resilience skills.

In particular, you’ll learn how to deal with stressors effectively using a cognitive-behavioural model that will become the cornerstone for your continuing development of resilience. We will then introduce the science behind growth through adversity and psychological well-being so that you can utilise stressors to become stronger, and identify and enrich elements of your psychological well-being.

Programme outline
You will learn to identify your inner and outer resources for resilience; how a cognitive-behavioural approach to dealing with stressors can be learned and used throughout your life; how to benefit from the upside of adversity and which parts of your life you want to work on to create better psychological well-being in the future.

Topics covered:

  • The physiological, cognitive, emotional and behavioural responses you have to stressors at work
  • How those responses affect your experience of the stressors
  • Dealing with ‘negative’ thoughts and emotions
  • How to transform your responses to stressors
  • Gaining the benefits of adverse situations
  • Leading a life of positive functioning

The course starts at 9.30am. Lunch and refreshments are included on face-to-face dates.
6 CPD hours (where applicable).
