Category: MASTER COURSE

This course will benefit both business people and those in the legal profession who have not encountered an SLA or are new to this area and need some guidance. It is also relevant to business and technical people including consultants who get involved in contracts where there is an SLA.

Who is this for?

  • Solicitors, trainees, CILEX
  • Consultants
  • Commercial and technical roles in industry where SLA’s are required

This course is aimed at both business people and those in the legal profession who have not encountered an SLA or are new to this area and need some guidance. It will be useful to lawyers of any level of experience who have so far not had to look at an SLA – perhaps those lawyers coming to a cloud contract or a software support contract for the first time. It is also relevant to business and technical people including consultants who get involved in contracts where there is an SLA.

What will you gain

Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) are a part of both modern business and modern government:SLA’s lie at the heart of many agreements in the tech sector: cloud services, software support, outsourcing, help desks but they apply wherever one party provides a service to another.

Considered “technical”, they may not be drafted by lawyers or others with lengthy drafting experience; however, the SLA may well turn out to be the one piece of documentation the parties have most recourse to in the lifetime of a contract.

Getting an SLA right at the outset will save much pain and prevent arguments latterly. Often problematic because they are too complicated or too theoretical.

This course includes worked examples of how to draft SLA’s – as well as examples of how NOT to do it.

Learning outcomes

  • Who should draft an SLA
  • Types of service levels - and the different approaches required for drafting
  • How to measure service levels - and the difference between them and key performance indicators
  • Remedies for breach of service levels
  • Legal aspects of SLA’s

This course will give you a thorough grounding in the law and the drafting of quality SLA’s which are fit for purpose of business.

The course starts at 1.30pm. 3 CPD hours (where applicable)
