Walter Macharg, MA, FCA, MAPM

During this presentation, Walter will discuss the processes that are involved in the crossrail project along with the key people and the key risks that are involved.

Walter is qualified as Chartered Accountant with a big four firm, he then worked as a Group Financial Controller for a property and financial services listed PLC. This was followed by ten years as a financial controller in Network Rail, for the Major Stations operation, and latterly for railway construction projects including the Thameslink and King’s Cross upgrades.  Previously Crossrail’s Head of Financial Control, he moved into Crossrail Programme Controls in 2012, where he established the cost assurance function under the NEC3 contracts, and leads the Programme change and Programme cost management processes. 

His specialism is the interface between financial controls and project controls in the support of major project delivery throughout the project lifecycle.
