FULLY BOOKED: The Accidental Leader Programme: Critical conversations

Speaker: Leading Figures

Category: LOCAL EVENT

This programme of events comprises three sessions, the third session focuses on Critical conversations. In Association with ACCA, Chartered Banker Institute, CFA Society UK, CIMA, CISI, IFoA, ICAEW Scotland, ICAS, Law Society of Scotland, PMI & The Society of Pension Professionals, RICS Scotland.

Are you a born leader or a reluctant manager? Many of us have been in the position where we have been 'accidental leaders'. Some people are promoted to a management position without formal training, or end up taking on leadership responsibilities without the credit. The “accidental leader” series explores leadership in the 21st century, where leaders can be born, made…or just appear!

Session three: Critical conversations

Do you find it easy or challenging to initiate those conversations that are difficult but likely to make a difference? In our increasingly on-line world there is a temptation to hide behind email and avoid having those critical, professional conversations. In this session we explore the mindset and approach that might help you to have those all-important conversations - especially with those who never seem to be on your wavelength!

This session will incorporate a mix of business theory with interactive audience engagement. There will be time at the start and end of each session for networking with fellow delegates. Attendance at the previous event is not a requirement!

Topics and dates:
Session 1 – Leadership on Tues 26 Feb
Session 2 – Delegation on Wed 20 March
Session 3 – Critical Conversations on Tues 30 April

*Please note while the programme comprises 3 sessions each one is distinct, and you may therefore choose to attend only one or two of the three.

Speaker Details:

Leading Figures is a coaching consultancy serving clients throughout the UK, drawn predominantly from the fund management, accountancy, legal and consulting sectors. For many of their corporate clients they provide team coaching, often interleaved with 1:1 coaching. Coaching objectives tend to be related to leadership development and enhancing team dynamics. Before becoming coaches, both Thomas and Russell led businesses in the past. Following a 10-year banking career, Thomas became owner/partner in his family’s long-established seafood business. Meanwhile Russell became managing partner of a corporate actuarial/investment consulting partnership. Both grew their respective businesses by focussing strategically on the ‘people’ aspect, recruiting and developing talent to drive the business forward. The purpose of Leading Figures is to support other businesses and organisations in doing the same - to grow and succeed through the development of their people. Leading Figures currently work with several clients that are either individual, organisational or institutional members of the Professional Bodies Forum.
