Storytelling for business - adding commercial value

Speaker: Dr Martin Roberts Ba(Hons), PgCLTHE, FHEA,MRES, PhD, FCMA, CGMA

As professional management accountants, we are often challenged by colleagues from sales, marketing, and operations, to understand more deeply the businesses we support. They expect us to add value to the numbers we report, and to help find commercial solutions to business challenges revealed by our analyses. At this event, Dr Martin Roberts FCMA, CGMA, will explore how to add commercial value through insight and storytelling.

Martin will explain how to transcend the traditional role of reporter, moving more toward becoming a commercial business partner. He will explore how to transform data into insight, and present your analyses more powerfully through storytelling, and through structuring your presentations. The techniques which will be covered are powerful and practical.

The learning outcomes from this event include:

  • Understanding what it means to add commercial value.
  • Focusing less on traditional reporting, and more on moving toward adding insight to the numbers.
  • Learning how to influence key stakeholders to consider and act upon your recommendations, through storytelling.

Who will benefit:

Those of you who are required to communicate financial data, to colleagues and stakeholders, internally and externally.
