Data analytics in internal audit

Rich Davis and Michael Chapman will share experiences, from their journey to date, in being pivotal in helping the Audit Services Group at Global Payments deploy a program of modernisation that includes the use of data analytics.

Rich and Michael will discuss what data analytics means to internal audit, highlight some of the misconceptions, identify the objectives and challenges associated with implementing data analytics, and explore the potential benefits of data analytics.

The learning outcomes from this event include:

Speakers' details:

Rich Davis, Associate Director at Global Payments, has a remit which includes the delivery of all operational audits outside of North America, and the development of progressive audit methodologies to increase the flexibility and speed of response to emerging risks. Rich was admitted to the 2019 President’s Circle, recognised by the President and CEO for delivering exceptional service and consistent performance. He moved into internal audit just six years ago, previously having served with the Royal Navy, following which he spent eight years in Iraq, pioneering the design of a safety-critical operational risk framework for the United States Army. Michael Chapman, Consultant Auditor at Global Payments, is responsible for leading audit reviews globally across the enterprise and has been instrumental in developing and delivering highly regarded, progressive audit methodologies. Michael has experience in diverse sectors including retail, finance, and pawnbroking. He has 11 years’ auditing experience with a BA in Accounting, and is a Certified Internal Auditor, a Certified Financial Services Auditor, a Certified Fraud Examiner, a Certified Information Systems Auditor, and holds certifications in key auditing frameworks. He serves on the regional board of the Institute of Internal Auditors, and frequently presents/hosts, training and networking events.
