The winners of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) NHS student excellence awards were announced today (12 October) at a ceremony to celebrate their outstanding achievements in the CIMA May 2007 exams.
Tarryn Coultas, from Newcastle, working at Tees Esk & Wear Valleys NHS Trust, was announced the winner at Managerial Level and Martyn Housecroft, from Wombwell, Barnsley, working at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, was announced the winner at Strategic Level. Tarryn achieved the highest mark in the Management Accounting Decision Management paper and Martyn achieved the highest mark in the Management Accounting Risk and Control Strategy paper.
A special commendation was awarded to Jane Nash from Chester who works for the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Trust and currently on secondment to Mersey Internal Audit Agency, for achieving the highest mark in the world in the Organisational Management and Info Systems paper.
The awards, sponsored by Kaplan Financial, were held at the NHS Northwest Finance Conference in Malpas, Cheshire and celebrate the commitment demonstrated by the NHS in training CIMA students and employing fully qualified Chartered Management Accountants to take on management roles.
David Flory, Director General of Finance and Performance, Department of Health, presented each winner with a certificate and £150 worth of John Lewis vouchers for their exceptional performance.
