What you can gain
This half-day course concentrates on the crucial area of employment status. This is key both for the correct operation of the CIS scheme and for ensuring PAYE is properly operated. Determining the correct employment status has never been more important. HMRC are adopting a harder line on recategorisation leading to significantly increased tax and NIC costs for employers. At the heart of the Construction Industry Scheme is the monthly CIS return which has to confirm the employment status of each person/subcontractor recorded on that form. Even though the individual may have worked for the organisation before, their status can vary with each job and making a mistake affects the tax deduction that must be made.
