What you can gain
The government has recently increased the generosity of a number of the direct tax reliefs available to charities, but most charities now need to exploit these reliefs more vigorously as they find their grant funding cut. In particular, the gift aid system now gives charities and donors access to very substantial tax reliefs, widened to include charities in other EU countries from April 2010. The advent of 50% and effective 60% income tax rates has increased the scope for planning by donors. This course will equip you with the knowledge of how to maximise charity direct tax reliefs.
Indirect tax (VAT) costs charities over £1 billion every year - methods of minimising this tax burden are dealt with on VAT and charities.
