IFRS - revised lease accounting standard

A new standard on lease accounting is due to be issued in 2012. The main proposal is to eliminate operating lease accounting. All leases would be accounted for by lessees in a similar manner to the way finance leases are accounted for currently under IAS 17. The proposals are likely to have a major impact on those companies that lease significant high value items such as property, however the proposals will affect all companies that have some leasing arrangements.

This half day course will visit the current accounting requirements under IAS17 and then consider the accounting for such transactions under the new lease accounting standard.

Anyone who works for companies that lease significant high value items such as property as well as companies that have some leasing arrangements.

The speaker will be drawn from a pool of subject specialists who are qualified professionals. Having worked for leading organisations they will bring their subject to life by relating the course content to real life case studies.
