Service to help working in Ireland

CIMA recently launched a web section, in partnership with 1st Contact Visas, to help members and students wishing to work abroad.

It includes information about the Irish working holidaymaker visa, which lasts for one year. It allows you entry into Ireland to work while on an extended holiday. The conditions are:

  • you must be aged between 18 and 30 years old (inclusive)
  • you are single or married without children. Your spouse must also qualify for the working holiday visa
  • you only take casual or temporary work
  • you do not work for more than three months with a single employer
  • you must have sufficient funds to support yourself for at least the initial part of the holiday or in the event of failing to secure employment. Evidence may be requested.

UK immigration

For further useful resources visit our working overseas web page. It also includes information on United Kingdom immigration. If you want to live and work in the UK, depending on your nationality, you may need to apply for remit or even for a visa to enter the country.

Indefinite leave to remain - ILR allows the holder to remain in the UK for an indefinite period. This is on the condition that they intend to remain present and settled in the UK.

Worker Registration Scheme - from 1 May 2004, nationals of Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary and Czech Republic, should apply to register for the WRS as soon as they start a new job.

Naturalisation and registration  - two ways of qualifying to apply to be naturalised as a British citizen.
