According to a survey carried out by CIMA and the Institute of Business Ethics (IBE), 84% of finance professionals believe business has a moral obligation to help address global issues such as climate change and poverty.
Despite this, companies have been slow to respond. Only a third are collecting information or reporting on their corporate responsibility performance.

Business intelligence and the management accountant
Management accountants need to be alert to the threat and opportunity presented by developments in the role of the finance function and business intelligence (BI). BI threatens the roles of many accountants in producing management information. It has matured as a technology and has expanded to include the reporting and analysis of performance management tools used by accountants. But it also presents new opportunities to management accountants to produce more valuable information and improve decision making.
