CPD Product accreditation scheme

CIMA developed the output-based CIMA Professional Development (CPD) policy to help and support all members as they enhance and maintain their competence whilst undertaking learning and development activities.

The output-based approach was chosen after consultation with members and in-depth research, and it takes into account individual learning styles and preferences. It encourages members to reflect on and evaluate what they have gained from the activity and how they can apply what they have learnt to their role. This approach also helps each member to focus on identifying activities that are relevant to their individual or future roles, which will enable them to fulfil those roles more effectively.

Members can also choose the development activities that will be most beneficial to their learning style and situation. They not longer have to undertake a certain type of activity to meet the number of hours or units prescribed by their Institute or employer.

To assist with the decision making process, CIMA launched the CPD Accreditation Scheme. The scheme recognises products and schemes that will benefit CIMA members’ in their ongoing development. This scheme recognises learning opportunities that are beneficial to CIMA management accountants and gives them a ‘stamp of authority’ that the course is of suitable quality and will assist in their development.
