CIMA Development - the new CPD employer accreditation scheme
Overview
One of the hallmarks of a CIMA member is the commitment to maintaining and developing professional competence and ethical awareness. CIMA has always recognised the important role that employers play in supporting our members and helping them to achieve this through the implementation of company schemes which encourage employees to be proactive in career management and professional development.
With the launch of CIMA Professional Development, the new CPD scheme for members, and the ever increasing need for professionals to demonstrate their professional competence, CIMA believes it is important to recognise employers who embrace the concept of career-long learning and who demonstrate achievement of the CIMA quality standards for professional development.
Employers who meet these standards are eligible, under the new CPD accreditation scheme, CIMA Development, to apply for accreditation as a CIMA Development Partner.
The benefits of accreditation include:
- the demonstration of best practice will help to attract and retain high quality staff.
- the commitment to the continuing professional development of employees will increase staff motivation.
- the CIMA Development Partner status will demonstrate management accounting excellence to clients and other stakeholders.
- recognition of the organisation as an employer of choice and committed to staff development.
- supporting the organisation's quality assurance systems.
The scheme centres around CIMA's professional development quality standards for employers. These standards mirror the different stages of the CIMA Professional Development cycle, which members use to assess, plan, undertake and evaluate their professional development.
