CIMA Industry Focus offers a convenient source of news for current awareness and members’ CPD purposes.  Industry Focus news stories are written for CIMA on topics that we have specified as being directly relevant to both CIMA members and students.  Coverage includes management and financial accounting, compliance, governance, the accountancy profession, and more general business news.   

Stories covered in 2006 included:

  • The withdrawal by parliament of the requirement for a mandatory operating and financial review, causing consternation amongst its supporters, including CIMA.
  • Amid ongoing concern over companies’ pension liabilities CIMA’s Pensions Advisory Group was set up.
  • The adoption of the International Financial Reporting Standards continued.
  • Report Leadership project was launched.
  • Towards the end of 2006 the new Companies Act received Royal Assent.
