Employer support
With the increased emphasis on technical competence and ethical awareness for CIMA members, it is important to recognise employers who embrace the concept of career-long learning and who demonstrate achievement of the CIMA quality standards for professional development.
Employers who support lifelong learning and meet the quality standards for professional development are encouraged in the assistance they give their CIMA members to maintain and develop professional competence.
Employers play an important role in supporting their CIMA members by:
- influencing CIMA’s learning provision through partnership.
- recognising member requirements & supporting them in activities.
- encouraging CIMA employees to get the best learning value from the workplace.
- where appropriate, taking a role in the verification process through appraisal forms/personal development plans that could act as evidence of CPD.
CIMA Development - CPD employer accreditation scheme
CIMA recognises the valuable role employers play in supporting our members in their professional career development and have developed a CPD employer accreditation scheme, CIMA Development.
CIMA Development is designed to encourage employers to support CIMA members in maintaining and developing their professional competence through relevant, planned and continuous development as they undertake their CIMA Professional Development, which has been applicable to all members since 1 January 2006.
We will support your employer to ensure you gain the benefits of working for an employer who is a CIMA Development Partner:
- assurance that you are getting maximum benefit from CPD.
- evidence that your organisation is committed to your professional development.
- a single sign-off process which means you only have to maintain one development record allowing you to concentrate on development activities rather than form filling.
- knowledge that your development is being effectively managed and meets CIMA requirements.
- assurance that your organisation is supporting your development and acknowledging your contribution to the overall success of the business.
For more information about how your employer can become a CIMA Development Partner visit the CIMA Development area of the website.
