Recording your CPD

If a member is chosen as part of the CPD monitoring process, they will be required to submit either the CIMA CPD Record Form or one in a similar format containing CPD evidence that shows their compliance with all six steps of the CPD Cycle. Accepted record formats are listed below:

  • The CPD action plan contained within the online CPD Planner
  • The CIMA CPD Record Form that can be submitted in soft copy (electronic) format
  • Confirmation of being on an accredited employer scheme (within CIMA Development)
  • A completed employer's appraisal form or personal development plan
  • A CPD Record Form provided by another professional body (additional information may be required to satisfy CIMA’s CPD requirements)
  • A Record Form in a format of your own choice (ensuring it satisfies the CPD Cycle requirements)

Undertaking CPD under another professional body’s CPD scheme
Many CIMA members are also members of other professional bodies and must therefore comply with more than one CPD scheme. CIMA will not provide mutual recognition of the CPD schemes of other professional bodies so members must ensure that they comply with CIMA’s CPD requirements.

When monitoring individual members, CIMA will accept CPD Record Forms of other professional bodies. However, in addition to the requirements of the chosen scheme, members must demonstrate that they have undertaken all six steps of the CPD Cycle. There will, therefore, be occasions where members will need to provide additional information with their chosen Record Forms so that all requirements are met.

For example, if members are complying with an input-based scheme, they must ensure that they have included on the CPD Record Form, or in addition to the CPD Record Form, information that indicates that they have undertaken all six steps of the CPD Cycle. In many input-based schemes, the 'reflect and evaluate' steps are missing so these must be included in order to comply with CIMA’s CPD requirements.

CIMA members can get detailed information about how to record relevant CPD information, including sample case studies, by logging into the CPD Centre.
