Syllabus guidance

The first thing you must do before studying any subject is read the syllabus.

Each syllabus contains:

  • A syllabus overview
  • Syllabus aims
  • Assessment strategy
  • Learning outcomes
  • Syllabus content
  • Study weightings

We have separated each syllabus into a number of different topics.

Against each topic there is a percentage – this is a guide to the amount of your time you should spend studying each topic.

You must study all topics in each syllabus. An exam question may examine more than one topic, or carry a higher proportion of marks than the study weighting indicates.

The study weighting does not specify the number of marks that the topic will be given in the exam.

Read the rest of our guidance, to help you understand the syllabus, before beginning your studies.
