Whistleblowing means raising a concern about wrongdoing or malpractice that affects others, to an employer, regulator, customer, the media or the police. This is also known as a public interest disclosure.
UK-based CIMA members or students who are unsure whether, or how, to raise a concern can contact Public Concern at Work on the whistleblowing advice line.
In the UK, whistleblowers are protected by the Public interest disclosure act (PIDA). More information about the act and about all aspects of whistleblowing, including links to international whistleblowing organisations, is available from the independent whistleblowing charity, Public Concern at Work.
