FAQs

The sections below provide answers to some frequently asked questions received by the Professional Conduct department. We aim to update them regularly so please ensure you keep visiting this page if you have any outstanding queries.

How long does the complaints process take?

Answer

CIMA fully appreciates that when a complaint is raised, both parties will be anxious to have the matter resolved without delay. Without compromising the thoroughness and fairness of its handling of disciplinary complaints, every effort will be made to ensure that these are dealt with quickly, efficiently and without unnecessary delay.

Respondents or Complainants receiving correspondence from CIMA will usually be given 21 days from the date of the letter to respond to the information.

Investigation Committee meetings and Disciplinary Committee hearings are held at regular intervals throughout the year. You will be notified as to which meeting your complaint will be considered. Our aim is then to advise all parties in writing of the decisions reached by the conduct committees within 10 working days of the decision being verified.
