The sections below provide answers to some frequently asked questions received by the Professional Conduct department. We aim to update them regularly so please ensure you keep visiting this page if you have any outstanding queries.

What can CIMA do in response to a complaint?

Answer

The purpose of CIMA’s complaints procedure is to assess whether the conduct of the member or student has fallen short of good professional practice and standards, for example whether they have breached CIMA’s Code of Ethics and, if so, whether he should be penalised.

Making a complaint to CIMA is not an alternative to taking other action, such as commencing civil action or notifying the police. Complainants faced, for example, with a possible case of fraud should make a complaint to CIMA and notify the police.
