Technical

CIMA provides the tools and techniques, insight and analysis that professional management accountants need in today's fast paced financial environment.

Forward thinking

Our directed and sponsored research programmes look at trends to identify the future needs of organisations, their management, their investors and other stakeholders. We particularly value research into all areas of management accounting.

As a world-leading authority, CIMA's research programme has a specific objective to promote and develop the science of management accountancy, as stipulated by our Royal charter. We rely on the expertise of the independent volunteers who sit on our Research Advisory Panel and Research Board to uphold the rigorous standards set for our programme.

InnovativeCascade of circles in bottom right

Our brochure demonstrates CIMA's evolving Innovation and Development agenda (PDF 899KB).

We keep up to date with emerging issues that may impact upon our members' organisations, and develop innovative tools and techniques to help them meet new challenges.

We work across the whole spectrum of management accounting, providing fresh ideas on a range of issues. Our aim is to develop new solutions and tools that are rooted in the business knowledge and experience.

Authoritative

CIMA is a world-leading authority on management accounting. As a result we are sometimes called upon to work with other leaders in their field.

We continue to collaborate with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Radley Yeldar to further develop the Report Leadership portfolio.  The Generico Report has been expanded to include executive remuneration.  Whilst a new online version of the Generico Report provides practical ways in which companies could improve their online corporate reporting.

Respected

Because CIMA is a highly respected professional body, we are invited by standard setters and regulators to respond to public consultations. We ask members to contribute their opinions so that our responses are truly representative. We believe that it is our responsibility to contribute our experience and knowledge for the public good.

Supportive

We support our members and students in their professional development by keeping them up to date with issues of importance to them. We do this through a focused news service, a wide range of technical resources and through CIMA's journals, Insight and Financial Management.

We also provide a number of CPD tools specifically developed for members. These are available to them through their CIMA Professional Development Centre and include written works such as Management Accounting Guides and Topic Gateways as well as electronic resources such as e-books and Infocasts.

Our Technical Information Service for members and students assists them with work related queries. We help them to find the information they need and can guide them in the interpretation and application of financial reporting standards.
