Have recent regulatory developments meant that the attention of your organisation has been dominated by compliance requirements?

There is a constant claim that boards spend too much time on governance and not enough time on strategy. Good governance can prevent failures, but cannot ensure success on its own.

Consequently there is a growing tide of opinion recommending that organisations need to focus more on strategic issues. 

The CIMA Strategic Scorecard™ provides a useful framework to help your organisation do just that, and to shift the focus back to strategic planning.

Our most recent report, The CIMA Strategic Scorecard^TM: boards engaging in strategy (PDF 503KB), demonstrates how the scorecard can be used as a tool to bring all your strategic information together in a summarised and consistent format. This will help your board balance time spent on strategy and time spent on governance issues. The report outlines what the scorecard is and how you can adopt one in your own organisation, including a suggested methodology and tools and techniques to assist with implementation.

To understand the scorecard's basic concept and approach, read the executive summary to the report (PDF 399KB) and the initial discussion paper (PDF 197KB), issued at the outset of the project. There is also a webcast that will provide you with an introduction to the concept, if you prefer to listen to a recorded presentation.

CIMA is in the process of conducting in-depth trials of the scorecard with organisations. The outcome of these trials, together with results gained from the use of the scorecard by other organisations, will be published on this page at a later date. In the meantime, CIMA would like to hear from organisations which have also adopted the scorecard and/or would be interested in undertaking a formal trial.
