May 2008 assessment matrix (PDF 39KB)
It is your responsibility to download the published material and familiarise yourself with it before the exam.
In March 2008 we held a limited 'TOPCIMA on computer' pilot exam in designated centres. The exam used the same pre-seen material as for the May 2008 exam (see above). The pre-seen material, unseen material, assessment matrix and exam requirement for this exam are now available to download (PDF 425KB) along with the post exam guide (PDF 81KB).
Read the two articles below which review the pre-seen material for the May 2008 TOPCIMA exam and offer some analysis and pointers on the key points and how to prepare for the exam.

You will also find it useful to read the TOPCIMA November 2007 post exam guide (PDF 89KB) for guidance on how to prepare for the TOPCIMA exam - post exam guides from previous exam sittings are available in our Study Resources area.
Read study guides 11 and 12 for further information and advice on how to prepare for the TOPCIMA exam.
Practise, practise, practise
When preparing for the TOPCIMA exam we strongly recommend that you complete at least three past case studies under exam conditions and review your answers carefully using the assessment matrix.
Look at the post exam guides for more guidance. If you can, get your work marked by a tutor and ask for feedback.
Important TOPCIMA information
You can’t take any notes or your own copy of the pre-seen material into the exam - we will give you another clean copy.
In the exam we will give you some more information about the scenario. This will be approximately five pages.
To summarise, in the exam we will give you:
- a clean copy of the pre-seen material
- the additional ‘unseen’ material
- the assessment matrix
- the exam requirement – this will describe one or more tasks that you must complete during the exam
- relevant maths tables
- a standard answer book and a supplementary book to help you organise your answers.
