ACT prizewinner announced
Christopher Foley ACMA AMCT, financial controller of HEA finance at HBOS, has won the Association of Corporate Treasurers prize for Corporate Finance and Funding (CIMA Fasttrack).
Foley was awarded the prize for £600 at the ACT conferment ceremony in London in March.
The AMCT qualification, which is internationally recognised, was specifically developed to offer transferable skills beyond treasury by providing a thorough grounding in financial markets, and equips an individual with the highest practical skills, knowledge in risk management, corporate finance and treasury related issues.
Foley said: 'I chose to continue my studies after a break of almost 10 years, and having identified the ACT examinations as those best suited to my line of work, I was pleased to see that my CIMA qualification granted me eligibility for the accelerated course of study. Balancing the demands of work and home with studying is never easy. But the fast track option certainly made things more manageable.
'The qualification is extremely relevant to the accountants exposed to the funding side of the business and could be said to be more valuable in the current turbulent market conditions. I know that my studies will stand me in good stead in the years to come.'
