MARG Conference will take place on 17 April 2008.

CIMA is closely associated with the Management Accounting Research Group (MARG) and its twice-yearly conferences. The last Conference was held on 17 April 2008 at London School of Economics (LSE). The plenary speaker is Professor Wai Fong Chua. More information can be found at MARG LSE website.

Research and development events

CIMA Research and Development Networking Event 2008

CIMA’s Innovation and Development Department hosted a networking event for its Research and Development (R&D) Group, Research Advisory Panel and Research Board Members on April 16, 2008 instead of the previously held yearly Research and Development Forum. The event included several presentations, including one by Professor Wai Fong Chua, the 2008 CIMA Visiting Professor.

Visiting professors

Since 1999, CIMA has held a visiting professor programme. The 2008 CIMA Visiting Professor was Professor Wai Fong Chua, the Senior Associate Dean of the Australian School of Business. The lecture took place on 17 April 2008 at the Management Accounting Research Group (MARG) Conference at the London School of Economics.

Professor Chua's lecture titled 'Strategising and accounting' focussed on ‘the developing relationship between finance and strategising: the evolving role of management accounting’. It concerned a case study of the finance function’s involvement in strategy at a major global organisation.  CIMA’s resident professor is Michael Bromwich, Professor of Accounting and Financial Management at the London School of Economics. Professor Bromwich is a member of the CIMA Research and Development Group, the convenor of the Management Accounting Research Group conference at the LSE and the joint founding editor of Management Accounting Research.
