Apply for accreditation
Deciding factors
In deciding whether or not to accredit a programme and which exemptions are justified, we need to make sure that:
- Applications are from institutions recognised by the UK National Recognition Information Centre (NARIC) and that the qualification is equivalent to UK HE qualifications.
- We refer to internal and external quality assurance reports to be confident of the general standing of the institution and programme.
- The programme meets all the learning aims for each of the CIMA papers being applied for.
- Assessments test both technical skills and conceptual understanding, preferably using scenario-based questions. Core topics cannot be avoided.
- There is a sufficient match between the programme’s syllabus and CIMA’s, shown by the module descriptors and assessments.
If you would like further details on the principles, criteria and guidelines for accreditation, please download our Guidelines for CIMA Accreditation 2007 (PDF 356KB) pack. You will also need to download the relevant application forms to apply for accreditation from the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting and/or Managerial level of our Chartered Management Accounting Qualification. (DOC 183KB) and the Strategic level of our Chartered Management Accounting qualification.
If you are considering making an application, you must first inform our team of higher education partnership managers so that we may schedule your review.
