CIMA has partnered with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) to launch an MBA in management accounting and finance. The course will incorporate content, curriculum and assessment of a CIMA professional qualification.
The students who complete this distance learning programme will receive a dual qualification, comprised of an MBA from IGNOU and an advanced diploma in management accounting from CIMA.
The key objective of launching the programme is to bridge the existing gap between programmes currently available and the ones actually required by the market in order to address the current and emerging needs.
Graduates from any discipline with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a UGC recognised university can apply. Final year students may apply for provisional admission. All applicants will be required to appear for a written test conducted by IGNOU and the final selections will be made based on the results of the same.
‘This is a unique distance learning course which offers a dual qualification from two of the most recognised bodies in the country: IGNOU and CIMA. Students will benefit greatly from this collaboration. AICTE recognised IGNOU MBA degree and the CIMA qualification widely in demand by employers will benchmark the employability in the industry,’ said Arati Porwal, chief representative, CIMA India.
‘Collaborating with an international body like CIMA will add great value to this new programme of MBA in management accounting and finance offered exclusively by IGNOU. We are expecting a great response from this course in its first year of admission,’ said Prof PRR Nair, OSD and co-ordinator – centre for corporate education, training and consultancy, IGNOU.
