Members who have been working in practice under the current provisional status of registration, but who do not hold a Practising Certificate have recently been sent a letter offering them the opportunity to convert their status to that of PC holder. This status would be under the current system prior to the new online facility being introduced in September 2010.
If you have been working in practice for over one year, current Council Regulation 7.2 requires you to apply for a Practising Certificate. With effect from September this will be a mandatory requirement for all members working in or setting up in practice. Details of the changes, which will be introduced via the new process, can be found on the Members’ Handbook page.
The current process is paper based, and some members may wish to obtain their Practising Certificate by this means in advance of the new process coming into force. If we do not receive your application in the meantime, or you choose to wait for the new online facility, you do not need to take any action now. We will contact you again after 1 September.
