Two reports have been issued around the areas of ethics and sustainability – themes of growing importance to management accountants.
A revised version, featuring global case studies, of the discussion paper Incorporating ethics into strategy: developing sustainable business models was the focus of a CIMA debate in Warsaw on the topic ‘Ethics in business: cost or return?’
Many businesses can be tempted to achieve short term gains by turning a blind eye to ethics. Yet, unethical solutions which may generate certain profits in the near future may also result in inordinately higher costs in the longer term. The issues were discussed in both the global and Polish context with expert input from CIMA, PricewaterhouseCoopers, GlaxoSmithKline and Start People, an employment and personnel consulting agency.
