CIMA regularly sponsors visiting professors and has recently elected a new CIMA Professor.

Visiting professors
Since 1999, CIMA has held a visiting professor programme. The 2009 CIMA Visiting Professor was Shannon Anderson, an associate professor at Rice University, Texas, USA.

2000 Professor James Guthrie, Macquarie Graduate School of Management in Sydney, visited Royal Holloway, London. Read his lecture on 'The management, measurement and the reporting of intellectual capital' (PDF 91KB).

CIMA Professor
Professor Wim Van der Stede is the new CIMA Professor. Professor Van der Stede, a professor of management accounting at the London School of Economics and Political Science, will contribute to CIMA’s strategy by raising the profile of the profession and bridging both theory and practice together to help set the agenda for the future of business finance.

Wim obtained a PhD in Economics from the University of Ghent, Belgium and has held a variety of professional positions including assistant professor at the University of Southern California and visiting professor at the ESSEC Paris, France. 

He has published many articles and won Awards including the AAA Notable Contribution to Management Accounting Literature Award in 2007 and the USC Marshall School of Business MBA.PM Golden Apple Teaching Award in 2005. 

CIMA’s former resident professor was Michael Bromwich, a professor of accounting and financial management at the London School of Economics. Professor Bromwich is a member of the CIMA Research and Development Group, the convenor of the Management Accounting Research Group conference at the LSE and the joint founding editor of Management Accounting Research.
