UK tax measures to name and shame accountants
With the introduction of two controversial tax compliance measures, senior accounting officers of large companies will have personal civil liability for companies' tax accounting arrangements and individuals that are subject to civil penalties for deliberate tax defaults can be publicly ‘named and shamed’.
The draft legislation now applies only to senior accounting officers of large companies and groups, ie with a turnover exceeding £200m or gross assets exceeding £2bn. It does not apply to partnerships, charities and public bodies.
