Free infocast series continues

The first in a series of infocasts will be on supply chain management. By Denise Metcalf, innovation and development services manager, CIMA.

CIMA is producing another series of three free live audio infocasts with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Society of Management Accountants of Canada (CMA Canada). The first of these will take place on 24 September 2009 at 5pm BST, (4pm GMT; 12noon EDT).

To join the live infocast you need to register in advance on the AICPA website.

Supply chain management: relationships, risks and rewards

Successful management of supply chain relationships and risks is critical to success, and indeed survival, especially in difficult business conditions. but there isn't a one size fits all supply chain solution. Strategies and tactics vary from company to company, and even within companies, depending on the product.

Participants in September’s infocast can benefit from the diverse experience of the presenters: two leading financial executives whose expertise in this area comes from the front line of day-to-day supply chain responsibility.

Paul Massey ACMA, is the finance leader for Cummins Turbo Technologies. He has over 20 years' financial and operations experience in a variety of industries and has held a variety of financial roles such as group financial controller. Massey has also had roles such as materials manager, purchasing leader, plant manager and director of worldwide manufacturing.

Ed O’Donnell CPA, is vice president, business analysis for Teknor Apex Company. O’Donnell has held financial positions in several industries, including newspaper publishing, financial services and commercial printing. He was also an audit manager with Ernst & Young. He has led Teknor’s worldwide supply chain initiative since 2005 and, by June of this year, all business units worldwide had successfully implemented Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and Material Requirements Planning (MRP).

Both Massey and O'Donnell were members of a panel of reviewers of the Management Accounting Guideline 'Supply chain accounting' by John Cullen FCMA, professor of management accounting at the University of Sheffield.

MAGs are free for members to download from the of our CPD Centre (click CPD resources / technical resources).
